Seattle Real Estate

History
The City of Seattle takes its name from the prominent tribal Chief Sealth, chief of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes. In 1889, the city was burned by the "Great Seattle Fire," which destroyed the central business district, forcing the city to rebuild on top of the downtown ruins. Remnants of the old business district cab still are seen today via the underground tour.

Description
Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest, and as such, the city serves as both a busy international shipping port as well as a culturally influential Mecca, home to many great musical and artistic movements and legends: the grunge movement's Nirvana and Pearl Jam, as well as current indie rockers Death Cab for Cutie. Several large coffee companies also founded in Seattle, including Starbucks, Seattle's Best Coffee, and Tully's, all adding to the cities famous (or infamous) coffee drinking reputation.

Residents
Seattle residents are comprised of business professionals, outdoor enthusiasts, and new families. From bicyclists to boaters, these people love the out-of-doors no matter the forecast. Seattle's "Metronatural" brand reflects the stylishly natural residents of the Emerald City as many prefer organically grown products coupled with eco-friendly lifestyles. Recently, a new trend of environmentally conscious, "green homes," have been sweeping the Seattle property development market, further adding to the cities naturalist style.

Housing
The Seattle, WA real estate market has reached unprecedented levels, with the development of environmentally friendly condominiums and renovated homes. A home for sale in Seattle, WA can range from $300,000 to several million dollars. Seattle real estate is one of the most lucrative investments in the current housing market.

Activities
Seattle is home to many favorite hiking spots throughout the city. A preferred choice among locals to Northwest Seattle is Discovery Park, reaching down to the beaches of Ballard. Another, more centrally located favorite is the Green Lake trail, stretching approximately three miles in length; walkers, joggers and bikers tread the path daily. Seattle's underground tour is another great tourist activity, revealing the "city beneath the city" where visitors can view the charred remains of the business district destroyed by the "Great Fire." A final favorite to Seattle locals and tourists alike is the famed Pike Place Market, adjacent to Puget Sound waterfront, home to small craft shops, international food vendors, local produce merchants, and plenty of fresh, Northwest fish.
