History
Even before the city's official incorporation in 1947, Mukilteo has had a vital role in development of the Puget Sound economy with the signing of a pivotal treaty between Washington and the chiefs of the local tribes. Even today, Mukilteo has a large affect on Washington state commerce, with a major ferry harbor with service to Whidbey Island.

The current population of Mukilteo is 19,940 (as of April 2007), and is home to many shops, restaurants and parks. The climate is similar to that of Seattle, with only slight more rain due to its location right off the Sound. Most of the town is located on the hillside with many Mukilteo homes offering views of the Olympic Mountains, the Northern Cascades (including Mt. Baker) and the beautiful Puget Sound. For those considering a purchasing a home in Mukilteo but worried about the commute into Seattle or further south, a new Sounder commuter rail station is currently under construction with completion expected in the spring of 2008. Mukilteo was also recently ranked #69 in Money Magazine's top 100 best places to live in the nation.

The residents of Mukilteo are predominantly young families and a median household income at $67,323. Mukilteo is a fairly affluent community, mostly due to its prime location, and the stellar views afforded by a Puget Sound home with a view, ranking 29th out of 522 areas in the state of Washington on a measure of wealth.

Mukilteo, WA real estate is, like the rest of the Washington, an ever-expanding market, with many people desiring the quaint, rural feel of cities to the North and East of the immediate Seattle Area. The median house value for a home for sale in Mukilteo was $567,000 as of early 2007.

Activities
Besides the obvious beauty of sight-seeing along the Puget Sound, Mukilteo offers many activities for everyone with over eighty public golf courses located within thirty miles from the city, and multiple ski resorts located in the adjacent section of the Cascades.
