Bellevue Real Estate
History
Bellevue was founded in 1869 by William Meydenbauer. Once a rural city with little development, the burgeoning Bellevue is now growing at a rapid rate. When the Lake Washington Floating Bridge opened in 1940, Seattle visitors suddenly found the small town accessible and began to develop. The opening the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge in 1963, tripled the city's development rate and has since greatly influenced the current state of the Bellevue real estate market. Bellevue is one of the largest cities in the state and is home to Bill Gates, the self-made billionaire and CEO of Microsoft. Other notable companies headquartered within the Bellevue vicinity include Coinstar, Eddie Bauer, Expedia, InfoSpace, T-Mobile and QFC. The location of these businesses in Bellevue coupled with the beauty of surrounding Lake Washington and the breathtaking views of Mt. Rainer has created a large demand for Eastside property.
